Client List
Edition label: 2026-10
Definition (Barr’s): A
compilation of people to whom J. Epstein made victims
available — analogous to what a “bordello madam” would maintain1
Status: Barr was never told such a document existed2
Barr’s Account
William P. Barr was never briefed by SDNY that a “client list” existed as a discrete document or compilation.3 He was never briefed that SDNY had actionable evidence against any of the prominently named figures associated with Epstein.4
Barr did not proactively ask Geoffrey Berman whether any of these individuals were being investigated — he left investigators to follow the evidence.5
Maxwell Proffer: Named Clients (July 2025)
Ghislaine Maxwell gave a list, from names she wrote down in advance of the proffer interview, of people she described as Epstein’s clients:6
- Leslie Wexner (#17 — “obviously there’s the one very famous client that everybody talks about”)8
- Staley (#2)9
- Leon Black (#3)10
- Glenn Dubin11 (Highbridge Capital — Maxwell said Epstein was heavily involved in its financing or sale to JPMorgan)12
Maxwell also mentioned a woman in Ohio whose name she couldn’t recall.13 She explicitly states, “I was not part of Epstein’s business world, except tangentially and obviously” — these are people she observed or heard Epstein discuss, not a comprehensive list.14
Maxwell listed four people she understood to be Epstein financial clients15 and said she was only tangentially involved in his business world.16
Hidden Camera Footage
Barr recalled that cameras were uncovered during searches of Epstein’s Manhattan building, and thought also on the island and possibly at a New Mexico property; he said he had heard of these finds and could not remember whether this was during or after his tenure.17
Barr never viewed the footage.18 Barr said he did not recall seeing evidence that Epstein used salacious material for extortion.19 Barr said in 2025 that he had no reason to think collected material was no longer in DOJ possession, but he had not reviewed it.20
Bondi Reversal (2025)
Public statements about the client list that Senator Durbin characterized as contradictory:21 - February 2025: AG Bondi stated the client list was “sitting on my desk right now to review” (Fox News).2223 - July 7, 2025 DOJ/FBI memo:24 The memo stated: “This systematic review revealed no incriminating ‘client list.’25 There was also no credible evidence found that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals as part of his actions.26 We did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.”27 The July 7 memo preceded Blanche’s July 24–25 proffer interviews of Maxwell by 17 days; any claimed causal relationship requires separate evidence.28 - Les Wexner: Described by HOGR Democrats as, “at one point,” Epstein’s “only documented client.”29
Epstein’s Own Emails
In emails released by HOGR Democrats,30 Epstein asserted that Trump knew about “the girls”31 and discussed potential leverage with Michael Wolff;32 the emails do not establish a client list or corroborate Epstein’s assertions.
Alfredo Rodriguez’s Black Book (Filthy Rich)
Rodriguez, Epstein’s houseman,33 took the book from his former employer’s residence34 and tried to sell information to Bradley Edwards, describing his compiled victim lists as “the Holy Grail or Golden Nugget.”35 Rodriguez produced it during a November 3, 2009 meeting with an undercover FBI employee;36 Rodriguez was convicted of obstruction of justice.37
Filthy Rich, chapter 57, reports names including Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Ehud Barak and Ralph Fiennes.38 Whether these names appear as victims, social contacts, or alleged participants is not established by the book.39
Open Questions
- Did SDNY compile any formal list of individuals investigated as potential co-conspirators?
- What does the hidden camera footage show?
- Were any urgent reports filed with Main Justice about prominent figures?
- What triggered the July 7, 2025 DOJ/FBI memo’s reversal on client-list existence?
- What happened to Rodriguez’s black book after he produced it to an undercover FBI employee in November 2009?
- Are the prominent names in Rodriguez’s book the same individuals in the DOJ’s hidden camera footage?
- What formal investigative status did SDNY assign to the prominent figures discussed in Barr’s testimony, beyond what Barr recalled being told?
- Is Rodriguez’s book the clearest documented precursor to the “client list” question?
- Was the material Rodriguez withheld the most direct documented evidence of Epstein’s network?
